Unparallel Worlds by: Alisa Jeruconoka
My name is Alisa and I live in London. Henry Howarth Bashford, English physician and writer, once said that ‘’I've been walking about London for the last thirty years, and I find something fresh in it every day.’’ I can’t agree more because a lot of my inspiration when I write comes simply walking the ancient streets of the City of London or observing London’s buildings and art galleries, or wondering in the parks.
I started writing from a young age. This experience transformed my entire life because everyday was not the same. I shared my stories with the friends and by using our imagination we travelled together through space at the speed of Light and discovered new worlds and universes. This creativity stayed with me throughout school, college and university where I kept writing short fantasy fiction stories (in my drama classes) that were then performed by the drama team in plays.
When I left University I started work unsocial hours as a full-time translator/interpreter (I speak several languages). This left me with no real time to write again.
One day I took my fourteen years old niece to the bookstore. She wanted to find something new and refreshing to read… something like… the almost lost genre of otherworldly fantasy fiction. So I decided to write ‘Unparallel Worlds’ a YA fantasy fiction, which I hope captures a rich story with a great imagination and an epic adventure in the other world, with a surprise ending.
‘’For any reader who is hoping to be transported to a different world, this is the book of choice. The imagination oozing from the pages of this novel is transcending. Along with the familiar creatures – werewolves, dragons, vampires – the incorporation of details in the world of Light with people who bleed gold and gain strength from the sun is what makes this fantasy original.
Picturing completely new worlds that are either bright beautiful and happy, or dark dangerous and full of monsters is the easy part of reading this novel.
Deep descriptions of fictional creatures, be-jewelled dresses, and extravagant castles give images clearer than a photograph. And though the content could appeal to all ages, it is the younger demographic that are more likely inclined to enjoy this story.
Young love, standing up to authority (i.e. parents), and a focus on attire will greatly interest the young adult audience. Those themes that attract the young at heart are rooted in the folds of these pages.
Though fantasy and science fiction don’t typically overlap, the reference to mythological characters along with the incorporation of scientists (rather than someone magical, like a wizard) is what makes this book teeter in the sci-fi genre. However, the colours of fantasy far outshine those of sci-fi, since most of the book’s content cannot be explained with science.
“Unparallel Worlds” is not the average love story between vampires, angels, and humans. This book opens an original world of dual dimensions that hints to the making of a new series.’’ Amelia Albanese, EZRead, eBook Specialist.
