"This is a beautiful short children's story. Very cleverly written, with a wonderfully moving story line. My children loved this story when I read it. It also included a very clever little method of explaining to children what happens during an eclipse (making a difficult concept understandable for them)" HarriRomney
Excerpt:
The sun was very hot. No one would touch her. This made the sun very sad, because more than anything, she wished she could be hugged. Every day she saw mommies hugging their children. She saw children hugging their pets. She saw mommies and daddies hugging and wanted to be hugged even more. She tried to hug the birds, the airplanes, and the balloons that escaped from the children…but they all flew too low. BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM
Gillean is the middle daughter. She sometimes feels neglected and left out.
Between the Two of Them explores the advantages and disadvantages of being the middle child and shows how Gillean discovers she has a special 'uniqueness' in the family. Book 1 from the series In My Sister's World featuring three African-American sisters as they explore life and the world around them. Enjoy 'Who Will Hug the Sun'- where Mhia hears a story depicting the antics of the sun trying to get someone to hug her and 'Not a Sound, Not a Peep'- shows how the family in prose and illustrations handles the nightmares of Mhia, the youngest child in the family. |
"Between the Two of Them, a book that reminds everyone of the potential they have when they realize that we are all equal, and we can be anything we want to be if we set our minds to it. This story takes the reader to the inner conscience of us all and teaches the values of self-esteem. Quick read with a powerful meaning. Heartfelt. Loved the drawings, definitely for young readers. Ey Wade has a knack for the written word." Joyce L. Mitchell

EXCERPT
Between the two of them I am the ONLY one. I am the only one that’s not so smart I just blow everyone’s mind. Between the two of them I am the only one who’s not so cute, I make everyone want to smile and hold me close. But when it’s the ONE of me, I am the smartest, I am the cutest, I am the most huggable daughter in the world. READ MORE: http://theinterviewedcharacter.blogspot.com/p/childrens-corner.html~~ |
"A short story written in narrative verse. The author has found a lovely way of explaining to children not to be frightened of the dark. Being a mother myself this is an experience shared and related to, which was enjoyed and easily understood by my children." HarriRomney
EXCERPT
After a week of no sleeping, Mama gives Mhia a big surprise.
“This bear will protect you in the night if you hug him close and squeeze him tight. He will give anything ‘frightening’ a great big scare, ‘cuz everything scary is afraid of a bear.” http://theinterviewedcharacter.blogspot.com/p/childrens-corner.html~~ |
Ey Wade
Knowing me as a writer and author is like cracking an egg’s shell in the air and wondering how far the splatter will spread. Wait, that’s kind of like knowing me as a person. I’m like all over the board and always working on three to five projects at a time. I have no favorite spots to work and my view tends to be pointed at the keyboard. When an idea comes into my head I just flow with it.
I haven’t been able to conform my writing to any specific pattern. I am more than often working on one story and the characters from another will just be dying to get my attention and I have to go into their world.I tend to write in various genres from fiction to picture books. Using pen (same one for the past eleven years) and paper, laptop and as a newly favorite the word program on my cell phone. I have found I can write anywhere with that little contraption and my focus is intent. Has to be with those tiny keys, right? And then I just email to myself and copy past into my manuscript. Before becoming a self-published author I followed the rules. Wrote outlines, character back stories, did the word counting, queries and everything. I even had an agent once. Unfortunately he was a horrible choice. Directed me away from Ballantine books (wish I would have known who they were then) who wanted The Perfect Solution and straight into the corrupt hands of Publish America. What a crock. After that fiasco I was so humiliated I couldn’t write. Fought and had my rights returned and now, I am back. I tried the querying again, but became frustrated when it seems the agents’ rules are so varied, too confusing for me. Not to mention the rejection letters can be soul crushing. I received a lot of positive reviews for The Perfect Solution when it was first published and yet when I began querying one agent informed me no one would like the book and yet it deals with negligence in the child care system. So, off I ran on my own. I have recently put three novels, three picture books and a creative non-fiction book into the Amazon and Smashwords systems. I think e-publishing is one of the greatest inventions God has given to the world. I would advise any author to go that route when they have something they feel strongly about.

Though it may seem as if I am a bit scattered brained I was able to school them into college by the age of seventeen and sixteen. The two eldest have graduated, yeah! I am the drooling proud ‘Lovey’ of a baby boy named Jett Parker Ellington. Before being destroyed by Hurricane Ike, I lived in a nice home and owned a home-based childcare center and that’s me and my writing life in a nutshell.
BEADS ON A STRING
Beads on a String-America's Racially Intertwined Biographical History
"Ey Wade has written a unique and important book that put all racial History under one umbrella. Wade has done a tremendous job collecting information on all races, and all subjects related to them. "Beads on a String" is a piece of History that was missing until this book came out. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to understand more about how multiple cultures shaped the US to what it is today. Two thumbs up! " Lola Tired of picking up an American history book and seeing the accolades given to one ethnicity at a time? Ever wondered what the Chinese, Japanese or any other race contributed to America within a certain time frame? History was written in more than Black & White and Beads on a String-America’s Racially Intertwined Biographical History lauds loudly the accomplishments of all races that helped make America the great country it has become. America’s glorious multi-racial history is finally acknowledged. |
